Legacy Roots
Welcome!

I am excited about this project which started in May of 2003. It started out of a love of history and the connection that we have with the establishment of the United States. In addition, after having to deal with the estate of a distant relative that died without any family in her life, it helped me to see the need for families to stay in touch and to be a support for one another in these times of technological isolation and long distance separation.

Check out the center of the Legacy Roots "Home" page on a regular basis where it says UPDATES. This will save you from having to look around the whole site for new information.

WHERE TO BEGIN:
It is recommended that you begin by selecting the family surname that you are interested in under "Branches" in the menu-bar. This will take you to the home-page for that particular family.

If you are simply looking to see if there is a surname that is associated with this site that corresponds to your research, select the "Surnames A-Z." If you find a familiar surname that you are seeking, select a profile with that name and it will take you to the branch that it is associated with.

When you access a particular family Home page you will see the following options:

History:
The history for each family is constantly in the works. As new information is obtained, the history is updated. Arnold, Parsons and Rechten are the only families that have the beginnings of a detailed history. Caraccioli, Lombardi, and Samek family histories are in the works. Each history gives a general idea of the series of events that has led to the current state of the family.

Pedigree/Tree:
The pedigree charts are rather large in size (between 2-6MG), so if you have a dial-up it may take some time to load. This venue gives you an overall look at the expanse of the family and can be quite interesting. Once it has loaded, you will see the names listed in a "tree" fashion as well as selected profiles along the left side of the page that you may view by clicking on the name. Use your "back-button" to return to the pedigree after viewing a profile.

Surnames A-Z:
This is a list of the individuals that are connected with this site. It is not an all inclusive list, but does list the majority of names available. This will constantly be updated as more information becomes available. While searching, you will find that particular names are underlined and have viewable profiles associated with them. In the profile you will be able to view the individual's name, parent's names, children's names, the important dates in the individual's life, as well as information regarding their education, occupation, church affiliation and any additional notes regarding that ancestor. Documents and pictures are also posted for some of the profiles.

You are able to select the parents', spouse's, and children's profiles from most individual profiles listed in the menu bar which will change with each individual.

In any profile you can return to the homepage which is listed in every menu bar or you can use the "back" button on your mouse.

CONTRIBUTIONS:
Please be a part of this on-going effort; send pictures, stories, and documents via e-mail or snail mail. If you do not have a scanner, but wish to share pictures or documents I will be happy to scan them for you, handle them with much care, and return them safely.

E-MAIL:
Feel free to contact me with updated information, corrections, or concerns. The plan is to do my best to make sure that the information is accurate and well supported. I am thrilled with corrections and invite any information you may want to share to keep this site precise as well as enjoyable.

I hope this information has been helpful and that you enjoy navigating through the site. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments.

Enjoy!
