In 1900, Edson was only 6 years old living home with his siblings: Elizabeth, 21; Walter, 15; Beatrice, 12; George, 10; and Edward, 10. They lived in the eastern section of Queensbury on Ridge Road. His father, William, was working as a brick moulder and his mother, Mary, remained at home with the children. His sister, Elizabeth, was occupied stitching shirts; and his brother, Walter, was already employed moulding bricks.
