In 1900, Louisa was only 11 years old attending school. She lived at 50 Railroad Avenue in Bayonne with her parents and six siblings.

By 1910, Louisa's father had been deceased 7 years. Her mother was taking in wash to help support the family. Louisa and her sister, Eva Coyle, both worked at a silk factory as weavers. Eva's 4 year old daughter was living with the family also. Jacob's brother, Guss was living with the family and worked at the oil yard; most likely Standard Oil.
