Charles first appears in the census in 1900 as a "no name" child at 8 months old. In June of that year, when the census was taken, Charles was living with his parents on Blair Road along with his siblings and his aunt, Caroline.

2. Neapolian (Napoleon) Caracola (Caraccioli) household 1910 U.S. census, Middlesex County, New Jersey, population schedule, Woodbridge Township, enumeration district [ED] 55, supervisor's district [SD] 2, sheet 4A, dwelling 57, family 62.

By 1910, Charles was 11 years old. He and his sister Henrietta were the only children left in the household. Charles' uncle, Myra's brother, Oscar Marshall at 45 years old, resided with them. Napoleon's sister, Caroline, now 80 years old remained with them as well. They also had a boarder by the name of Peter J. Nelson from Denmark living with them.

The 1920 census shows Charles living at home with his widowed mother, Myra at 5251 Arthur Kills Road in Richmond County, New York. At 20 years old he was working as a fireman on a tugboat.

By 1930 Charles was married to Gertrude and they had two daughters Emma G., age 9, and Dorthea M., age 2. They owned their own home, worth $15,000 at 5440 Amboy Road in Hugenot, New York. Gertrude's uncle, David L. Winant, a widower, was also living with them. Charles was working as a fireman for the fire department at this time.
