1. Frederick Jacob William Arnold birth certificate (1918), Department of Health of the State of New Jersey Bureau of Vital Statistics, Trenton, New Jersey.
2. Jacob Arnold household, 1910 U.S. census, New York, New York, town of Manhattan, enumeration district [ED] 606, supervisor's district [SD] --, sheet 5A, dwelling ---, family 81.
This census shows Fred at six years old living with his parents at 2449 Eighth Avenue, Manhattan, New York.
3. Jake Arnold household, 1920 U.S. census, New York, New York, town of Manhattan, enumeration district [ED] 960, supervisor's district [SD] 1, sheet 5B, dwelling 22, family 139.
This census shows has many mistakes. It appears that a neighbor may have given the information due to the fact that the naturalization information is noted as unavailable; Jacob is listed as Jake (possibly a nickname); the ages are all incorrect (Jacob would have been 59, Sophie, 53, and Fred 16 not 48, 26 and 21 respectively); it shows that they were from "Alsough" which most likely should be Alsace; and, shows Fred having been born in New York. Despite the numerous errors, it is clear that this is the correct census record. The family has the correct individuals. "Jake" is listed as a baker and Fred as an electrician which are both correct. Jacob and Sophie are both from Alsace and Fred was born in the United States. Additionally, the address is the same on Fred's marriage certificate.
4. Arnold-Samek marriage, 17 December 1928, certificate no. 1538, The City of New York, Department of Health, State of New York. New York City Municipal Archives.
5. Fred Arnold household, 1930 U.S. census, Richmond County, New York, enumeration district [ED] 43-169, supervisor's district [SD] 27, sheet 7B, dwelling 129, family 165.
This shows Fred and Helen Arnold as husband and wife renting a home at 51 Vistar Avenue for $60.00 per month. Fred at 26 years old was working as an electrican and Helen, 24 was a sewing machine operator at a handkerchief factory.
Notes:
Frederick Jacob William Arnold was cremated. His ashes are kept in an urn by Robert Jacob & Marion Arnold, Florence, Texas.
Frederick's middle names are most likely from his father (Jacob), and his mother's father (William). The name Frederick or Frederic appears to run in the paternal side of the family.
